Varsity suffers its first loss versus Petaluma

2/22: The Varsity Giants suffered its first loss of the season, a 4-1 decision against Petaluma. Nick Gehrman got the start for the Giants. He gave up 4 runs on 6 hits over 4 innings of work. Gehrman also tallied 3 strikeouts in the loss.  Johnny Bayler came into pitch in the fifth inning and dealt 3 shutout innings with no hits allowed. Bayler’s performance was one of the few bright spots in the game for Redwood.

The Giants could only muster 4 hits against a solid pitcher from Petaluma.  Charlie Welch had two hits, and Luca Bove and Cole McGowan each had one hit.  The loss drops Redwood’s record to 2-1 on the season.
