3/24: The scoreboard tells the story as the Giants routed Terra Linda on the road on Thursday. Redwood pitching ended the week without yielding a single run to their opponents as they logged their second shut-out.
“You know it’s a good day when you can get twenty-one players into a seven inning game”, coach Firenzi said after the game. “The best part was, everyone contributed.”
Zack Kopstein earned his fourth win of the season, pitching four dominant innings with six punch-outs and without walking a single Trojan hitter. Zack Tonnerre closed out the last three innings, striking out five while yielding just one hit.
Redwood loaded the bases in the top of the first and Zach Cohen launched a 0-1 fastball off of the top of the right field wall, scoring three runs. Nic Gillies singled him home putting Redwood up for good, 4-0 going into the bottom of the first.
The Giants had nineteen batters take to the plate and, all combined, ended the day with twelve hits. The two “Nic’s” led the way as Nicolas Belgum and Nic Gillies had two hits each. Eric Doctor, Aubrey Sine, Danny Avins, Michael Benz, Trevor Foehr, Garret Aubert and Sam Roiz also added to the hit parade.
The Giants will defend their on-going two year MCAL home win streak against Tam at 4:30 on Tuesday.
