3/3: After opening the season with two straight losses the Giants have turned the tide and are riding the wave of a two game winning streak after beating Bishop O’Dowd 8-2 on the road.
The Dragons entered the game with their two best pitchers on the DL and Redwood took advantage early, scoring six runs in the top of the first. Genki LeClair and Henry Zeisler both walked to start the game, setting the table for Nicloas Belgum. Belgum showed how he ranked #2 in batting average in the MCAL in 2016 by roping a single to the right side, scoring LeClair and Zeisler. Aubrey Sine followed with a double and Michael Connors then singled, scoring Belgum. Dane Goodman laced a double over the center fielders head, putting runners on second and third for Pascal Brassey. Brassey ripped a single to left, scoring Connors. Genki LeClair singled to right, scoring Goodman and before they could catch their breath, Bishop O’Dowd was down 6-0 going into the bottom of the first.
Pearson was efficient and effective striking out five and holding the Dragons to two runs in his five and a third innings of work while the Giants bats went silent until the seventh when they scored two insurance runs on a double by Zeisler and a single by Sine.
Michael Benz closed out the game, giving up a hit and striking out two in the last one and two thirds innings.
Pearson earned his first win of the year, evening his season record to 1-1.
LeClair, Sine and Goodman all had two hits for the Giants while Zeisler, Belgam, Connors, Zlatnich and Brassey each had hits. This is the second game in a row that the Giants had ten or more hits (11) and scored eight or more runs.
Luke Zlatnich, Aubrey Sine, Nicolas Belgum and Henry Zeisler are all riding a three game hitting streak.
The Giants will host Casa on Tuesday at Redwood at 3:30, a game that was originally scheduled to be played in Petaluma, but due to field conditions, the game has been moved to Moody.
