Redwood Varsity falls to Casa Grande

2/26: Redwood Varsity fell to Casa Grande 3-1 in a game that was tight throughout. Both teams had 7 hits, but Redwood was not able to capitalize at key moments during the game.

Rex Solle was mostly sharp on the mound, though he ran into some trouble in the second inning and gave up 2 runs. Overall, his pitching line was solid: 2 runs, 3 hits, and 6 strikeouts over four and a third innings. Johnny Bayler came on in relief, baffling Casa Grande hitters with his slow curve ball. Bayler only gave up one run over two and two-thirds innings.

Offensively, Cole McGowan and Rex Solle both tallied two hits; while Colin Cuneen, Kai Christman, and Charlie Welch each had one hit for the Giants.

The one bright spot in the loss was that the Giants did not commit any errors in the game. The loss drops Redwood to 3-2 on the season.
