The Giants (17-2) needed only five innings of play to beat Terra Linda High School, 12-2. Jack Hake started for Redwood, striking out three and issuing no walks in three shutout innings of work. Hake also hit a solo homerun in the fourth inning. The Giants scored one run in the first, two in the third, five in the fourth and four in the fifth to mercy the Trojans.
Sam Warren had two hits, two runs and three RBI’s on the day. Nick Cook added two hits, two runs and one RBI. Ryan Jessen had two RBI’s and Robbie Wilson had three RBI’s to lead Redwood in the winning effort.
The Giants enter the final week and a half of regular season play on top of the MCAL standings. Last week, third baseman, Jackson Barry, was called up to Varsity. The depth of the squad, however, should carry the team this week, as the Giants face Tamalpais at home on Tuesday (5/2), Justin-Siena in Napa on Thursday (5/4), and finish off at Marin Catholic on Friday (5/5). Each game is critical to their pennant push, especially the Friday night contest versus Marin Catholic.
A clean sweep of their opponents in May will bring home the 2017 MCAL Pennant. Go Giants!
