JV Bats Come Alive, Evens Record at at 1-1

It took a scrimmage and a non-conference game to shake off the winter rust, but the Redwood JV bats came alive against Petaluma in the second non-conference game of the season, leading the Giants to a 9-3 victory.

Redwood wasted no time getting their first run of the game in the top of the first. Noah Arrick smashed a triple to deep right (the first leg of his “baby cycle” – trademark pending). Arrick then scored on a fielder’s choice to put the Giants up 1-0. In the third, clean up hitter Dane Goodman crushed a 3 run home run to left center to make it 4-0. The boys added 5 runs in the 4th, including an RBI opposite field double by Oliver Pearson and an RBI single by Luke Zlatunich.

In total, Redwood collected 14 hits, led by Arrick (3-3 with a triple, a double and single, the mythical “tricycle” (copyright pending)), Goodman (3-5 with a homer, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored), Michael Connors (2-4) and Sean McKenna (2-4).

Mr. Arrick was also brilliant on the mound earning the victory and surrendering only one earned run while striking out 4 and walking just one (the first batter he faced). Lefty James Thompson was excellent in 2 innings of relief, allowing just 2 hits, whiffing one and walking none.

The fans look forward to the JV squad keeping it going in a scrimmage Saturday against Riordan in the City. If you cannot make it to the game, we look forward to seeing you at the big Redwood Baseball event at Redwood on Saturday night!
