Freshman Sprint to Five Inning Shutout

April 30, 2016, Terra Linda High School. Freshman Sprint to Five Inning Shutout. Head Coach, Tabor Watson, used just nine players on Saturday to demolish Terra Linda 18 to 0 in five innings of play. The game was essentially over after the top half of the first inning, after Redwood’s starting nine registered 14 at bats and exploded for twelve runs. If there ever was a game to pad your stats, this was the day for offense: Zack Gordon (3hits,2 runs, 2 RBI’s); Jake Nordstrom (2 hits, 2 runs, 3 RBI’s) Enzo Santa (2 runs, 1 hit, 1 RBI’s); Ryan Jessen (3 hits, 1 run); Sam Warren (2 runs, 1 hit, 1RBI, 2BB); Erik Simonson (3RBI’s, 1 Hit, 2 runs); Bryce Jehling (1 run, 1 RBI); Thomas Durtchi (2 hits, 3 runs, 2 RBI’s) and starting pitcher, Haiden Jones (2 hits, 2 runs, 1 RBI), throwing three innings of shutout baseball with 40 pitches, 2 hits and 2 k’s). Ryan Jessen threw one inning of relief (1k) and Erik Simonson closed out the Tojans to complete the shutout. The Giants middle infielders, shortstop Zack Gordon and second baseman Thomas Durtchi, combined for five hits, four RBI’s, and five runs-a personal best for both. As a team, the Giants starting nine players were never replaced and combined for 15 hits and 18 runs, leaving nine men on base. The players were very humble and showed great sportsmanship in the rout of the outmatched Trojans. Redwood will take on Tamalpais High School next on Monday May 2nd. First pitch at Al Endriss Field at 4:30 p.m. GO GIANTS!
