The Freshman ended their preseason with 3 wins and 3 losses. In their losses, the Giants committed 3 or more errors in the field. However, their wins were championed by solid defense and run support for their deep pitching staff. Cooper McLay notched two wins from the bump, leading all pitchers in wins and locking in a 1.17 ERA with the most innings pitched. Wyatt McCullough had the other win for the Giants.
Four players head into the MCAL with batting averages of .385 and above – Cale Tippett .385, Nick Paoli-Khadjenouri .400, Andreas Gleckman .429, and Josh Cohen .471. Cohen leads the team in batting average (.471), hits (8), runs (6) and stolen bases (5). Tippet and Paoli-Khadjenouri lead the team in RBI’s with 3, and Jake Kristy tops the extra-base-hits category with 2 doubles.
With a team batting average of .231 and a team ERA of 2.98, the Freshman head into the the MCAL season with a deep pitching staff full of strong arms. They expect to impose a strong defense to back their pitchers and run support from their solid batting line-up.
