Firenzi Sits on 399 with Loss to Monte Vista

5/14:  The battered Giants travelled to Danville to face DI powerhouse Monte Vista on a sunny day in Danville.  Redwood added four players to their roster for the play-offs and the upcoming NCS tournament. “Our outfield is beat up, so we added Dane Goodman from the JV, I like to add to the catching core so we added Luke Zlatnich and Mackie Skall (also from the JV team) and we needed some speed on the bases so we added Genki LeClair from the Freshman team.”  Goodman hit .479 on the season and led the JV team with 35 hits, two of which were home runs.  LeClair had 14 stolen bases during his Freshman campaign.

Redwood could only muster three hits (from Zach Kopstein, Erik Doctor and Trevor Foehr) and gave up seven runs on three errors in the field.  Zach Tonnerre took the loss, but only gave up two earned runs in his 4 1/3 inning of work.  Nicolas Belgum struck out one in is 1 2/3 innings of relief.

“We stayed with them through three innings (the score was 0-0 through three), but we got a little sloppy and they hit the ball.” Firenzi said after the game.  “We just need to get healthy and ready for the playoffs.”

Redwood will host the winner of the San Marin vs. Justin-Siena playoff game on Thursday night at Albert Park.
