Redwood showcased the depth of their pitching staff as Zach Kopstein took the mound for the start in a tough 3-game week. Kopstein answered the call as the tall Junior right-hander (left) pitched a complete game shut-out against Branson on Friday. ‘Kop’ yielded just 4 hits, while striking out 8 Branson hitters. His most impressive statistic was his 0 walks, as not one Bulls hitter earned a ‘Free Pass’ on the day. Branson out-hit the Giants 4-2 as Redwood’s bats went quiet. Branson Freshman and Twin Cities Little League Alum, Alec Ritch pitched 7 innings, striking out 4 while giving up just 1 run. Both teams were flawless in the field, committing no errors, and Riley Overend added a “Webgem” to the mix, making a great diving stop in the 5th. With the score dead-locked 0-0 in the bottom of the 7th, Aubrey Sine walked and promptly stole 2nd. Senior Nate Flax (who plays first base when Kopstein is taking over pitching duties) blasted a single and Sine scored. Sine was mobbed at the plate and then everyone mobbed Flax in celebration of his walk-off hit. The Giants are on the road Tuesday at Tam.
