Redwood again came out strong scoring runs in their half of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd innings and before the Mustangs came to bat in the top of the 4th, the Giants led 7-0. Oliver Pearson earned the win from the bump, pitching 4 scoreless innings while striking out 3. Wyatt McCullough had an inning of work and Cale Tippett pitched a shut-out inning. 3rd base coach Billy Jack Ryan flashed the steal sign 5 times as Pascal Brassey, Jake Kristy, Dane Goodman had stolen bases while Josh Cohen had 2. In order to steal, you have to get on base. The Giants slugged 14 hits on the day, and were walked 6 times. San Marin also committed 4 errors while the Giants were flawless in the field. All told, the Giants put 24 runners on base. Josh Cohen led the assault, going 3-4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI’s. Ironically (or not) Cohen wears #2. Mackie Skall and Nick Paoli-Khadjenouri contributed 2 hits apiece. Drew Jacks, Ryan Nevitt, Jake Kristy, Luke Zlatunich, Dane Goodman, Noah Arrick and (of course) Andreas Gleckman also contributed to the slugfest. The Giants are on the road vs. Acalanes in a non-conference game on Friday.
