You won’t typically see a Freshman or Sophomore on the Varsity roster of a Mike Firenzi coached team. On the rare occasion you do, that underclassman is a player who is an every day starter. In Firenzi’s 25+ years of coaching, he has truly developed an eye for talent and knows when an underclassman is ready to make the move to Varsity. When asked early in the season if he felt Aubrey would be overmatched at the Varsity level Firenzi said, “He’ll be just fine, the kid is liable to hit one out this year.” Sine blasted 2 homers on Friday and has been a fixture in right field for the Giants all season. He has also batted in the 5th spot in the order, a tall task since 1st Team All-League (2014) catcher Parker Laret hits in the 4 hole. If teams didn’t deem Sine a threat, they would just walk Parker intentionally so they wouldn’t have to pitch to him. Laret has walked one time this season. Aubrey has more than answered the call at the Varsity level, hitting .409 while leading the team in RBIs (11) and homeruns (2). It’s great to see him recognized by the IJ for a such a great week.
