4/02: 2 – 1 Win at Home vs. San Rafael

zach1Zach Cohen (above) pitched another gem on his way to his 4th MCAL win for the Giants.  Cohen shut down the Bulldogs in the top of the 1st and in the bottom, the Giants bats came out on fire.  Devon Pence led off the bottom of the 1st single, Riley Overend was beaned and Adam Hussain doubled, adding to his season RBI total.  Aubrey Sine would knock in Overend and Hussain with a single, putting the Giants up 3-0.  This would be the end of the scoring for Redwood on the day but not Sine’s hitting as he tallied 3 hits.  Aaron Dorfler had the other hit for the Giants.  Zach Kopstein came in with one out in the top of the 7th and earned his 3rd save of the season.

Cohen struck out two Bulldog hitters, which meant most of his outs came from his defense. devon Shortstop Devon Pence (photo left) answered the call as he had 10 plays in the field and dazzled the crowd with his defensive prowess, including San Rafael Head Coach Aaron Kolotkin who said to the IJ: “That kid…what a great player.  Great glove, great arm, and you can tell he has high baseball IQ.  I’m totally impressed.”  Pence and the Varsity Giants take their show on the road as they face Terra Linda on Tuesday.
